I used to have a crush on Mary Hart in the 80's. I would watch Entertainment Tonight every night at 7:30 just to watch her. She should have had her face insured.

Being misplaced in Detroit I was here when the BEST of the Worlds advertisements & commercials came from Detroit. My God you watched TV just to see how good the advertising talent was here in Detroit cause the national shows sucked. If you are a Detroiter you still speak in these commercials & real people get it. Highland Appliance “Big Savinginsk” stills wins the best commercial of all time. I am planning on doing a remake. No credits to the makers of these brilliant ads are to be found. Very sad. I knew many of the producers personally. All gone now. The original owners of Dic O Dows in Birmingham were ad exec’s in those days, made their fortunes & the would weave the tales of their brilliant careers to all that would listen at their bar. Wonderous days they were.

How Buster managed to live to be 70 years old is a miracle considering all those dangerous stunts....he was truly amazing, no one will ever equal him....Chaplin, Lloyd and others were good, but Buster was THE GREATEST of them all.......

Another memory I have of this show. It debuted during the Bicentennial year, of our U.S. Constitution. I thought that would give it a ratings bump. But, ABC put it in a Friday night graveyard slot.

4:09 here he actually landed on the rail in an awkward position, because of the water pressure, and broke his neck. After the incident he recalled having a stiff neck and light headache but drank some whisky and felt better in the morning and it wasn' until much later, when a doctor told him, that he knew he had a broken neck

The only time he used a stunt double, that I know of, is in the college movie where he pole jumps through a second story window, in that scene they used an olympic champion because he didn't want to waste production/filming time learning how to pole jump.

Like most people, I'm here because of Richard. Somehow this show flew under my radar, though I don't think I'd have been a huge fan. One of the major problems, to me, is that Richard didn't write any of it. I think the show would have the better for it if he'd had a voice in it. A little "edge" would have made it stand out more. That said, it's a cute show. Owes a great debt Mary Tyler Moore, and predates the Frasier idea of the lead living with a parent. A dad, no less.
